When I was a young boy, I wanted to be a hero. Strong. Tough. Maybe a soldier or an astronaut.
Then life shows you it’s hard enough just to get by.
Plenty of pain, failure and sorrow get in the way.
Dreams of heroism forgotten.
But now I see. Now I understand a bit more…
So many climb a mountain every day. They face a massive struggle.
Every. Single. Day.
Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons… Working, serving and suffering in sacrifice.
Sometimes just waiting.
Holding tight to God’s hand, they fly high into the stars with him.
They are his heroes and astronauts.
And He sees his Son in them.
And maybe they fall into bed weary each night…
… wondering if they could just sleep tomorrow away…
But they know they won’t.
Even if they don’t feel it, they know it.
It’s worth it.
Love is worth it.
And tomorrow…
I’ll pull up my bootstraps and fly high again with the Lord.
So, let the morning come.
If you think you don’t have a mountain to climb, or stars to seek…
Look again.
Towering high above you, that climb you haven’t even started yet.
Hold on tight to God.
Let him take you there, to the mountain top.
To the heavens.
It will require all you have, all the strength you can muster.
With the hand of God upon you, you will face down demons.
If you let him in, the Spirit will shine in those dark places.
And it will be worth it.
Love is worth it.
And when you fall into bed, weary sometimes…
… you will rest well.
So let the morning come.
