Return life to your life

IF SOMEONE came back from the dead today, how would you react? Would you even care? Would it impact your life at all? Or would it just be another curious news story?

The historical evidence for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is abundant. Ancient non-Christian texts, archeological studies, and historical analysis all support the reality of Jesus’ resurrection.

Does it even matter though? For some, all the evidence in the world won’t convince them. Even if they saw the resurrection with their own eyes, they still might not believe.

For those who do believe, there is only one reaction to Easter — profound, life seizing joy. But it’s more than just the story of Jesus of Nazareth.

Yes, the story is amazing. It’s full of wonders, betrayal, drama, and intrigue. In many ways it’s a tragic tale, but with a final message of great hope. Still, if it’s only a story, it entertains you for a while, and then life goes on.

What happens though if the story is real, not fiction? What if things happened just as the Scriptures say they did?

What if you hear the story from the depths of your soul? What if you listen with all your heart?

Then the story comes alive. It becomes the story of Jesus resurrecting those dead places in your life, here and now.

It’s the story of infinite, unshakable love that has existed for you since the beginning of time.

You might be sad or tired. You might be worried about someone or something. You may feel anguish or frustration.

You might be angry at the world, your family, or your life situation. Or maybe you feel ashamed.

But when your heart receives the Good News of Jesus Christ, none of these things can hold you down. In his resurrection, you rise up against all odds.

Then hope thrives within you. Optimism takes hold of your thoughts. Your life expands with enthusiasm. And you’re not ashamed anymore.

You’re not afraid or angry. You are solid and secure. Because through Jesus’ history, your history has been rewritten.

And it does not end in tragedy. Instead it continues with a new life, a fresh story. It’s the history of salvation for you and for all humankind.

And when the story becomes real in you, what’s the result? It’s faith like steel. A faith that can heal, free, and revive those dead places.

So let your hope rise. Let tenderness and care come fully alive. Let your joy sing out loud again.

Take hold of this heavenly vision of the present and the future.

Let your faith burn brightly within you. Don’t hold it back anymore. Be not afraid.

Let your faith return life to your life.

Embrace the joy in knowing the risen Christ Jesus, our Lord.

. . . . . . .

So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Hail!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
