Good Friday

BEHIND all pride, behind all ego, behind all arrogance and hate, all selfishness and rage…

… behind all greed and vanity, behind all resentment, atrocity, perversion, and criminal acts of every kind going back to the Garden of Eden

— behind it all we find something universal.

Behind all our evil actions and vices — we find the exact same thing.

We find an open wound — the wound of the sinner.

God the Father drew all our wounds into the wounds of his Son.

Let us never forget the sacrifice he made for us.

Let us never forget the Man on the cross, the broken flesh, the blood soaked the earth.

Let us remember and let our sin be crucified with him.

Take it all, O Lord! Take away all our sin with you.

Place it all into your pierced flesh, your wounded side.

Let our sin die with you so that we may live.

It is finished with you and only you.

O sweet merciful Lord!

. . . . . . .

he said, “It is finished”; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

John 19:30b
