It’s getting closer

IN THIS world you will never see perfection, but you will see affliction.

Things will never be exactly as you want. And sometimes, your life will seem like things have gone horribly wrong.

It might be from mistakes you made. It might be from harm that was done to you. Or maybe both.

Or maybe the trials of this world worry you. You see so much trouble and pain. Contradiction and anger are everywhere.

And when it seems like it’s all closing in on you, remember this: you are promised heaven. The good Lord loves to give heaven to you.

So look forward. See the light rising above the smoke and ruins. Look past the hypocrisy and the hurt.

Can you see heaven on the horizon?

Still, some may say, but I’m struggling now. Others are hurting too.

How much more suffering has to happen? How much longer Lord?

The answer begins with the Kingdom inside you. The external world will never adapt to you or anyone else.

So you can feed on frustration… or you can feed on faith.

Do you know who you are?

You are a child of God.

Do you know you are loved?

You are loved by your Creator.

Do you know you are never, ever alone?

The Son of Man goes with you, even to the most hurtful places, even to the cross.

Do you know that in the worst of times, even when you face death, your story does not end?

Believe in the resurrection. Have faith that eternal life begins here and now.

Nobody has to accept this. You can reject it all. But who doesn’t want heaven?

Do not believe the lies of the accuser. Do not let your hurt or shame get in the way.

Instead, let it be the door through which God’s tender grace enters your heart.

He will wash you clean. He will cure your wounds. He will set you free.

The blood of Christ does all this for you.

Jesus is innocence. He is faithfulness. He is all that is good and pure. He is the Son of God.

All these things are worth believing in. And his Spirit lives inside you — if you let him in — if you open your heart.

And from that place, deep within you, his Kingdom shines brilliantly in the darkness.

And through his sons and daughters, the Spirit of the Lord works wonders.

The once wicked become kind.

The wounded bring healing to others who hurt.

Those who have been found now rescue the lost sheep in the wilderness.

This is God’s answer. It’s his Son. It’s his Spirit alive in you, in his Body.

The enemy will rise up and try to tear it down, but it will not happen.

The Word of God is unshakable, eternal.

No matter what the world tries to do to stop it, the Kingdom of God continues to move ever closer.

For his mercy and love are unstoppable.

Love always comes near.

. . . . . . .

In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Lucas 21:31-33
