Prayer of the servant

(This prayer is dedicated to those who seek to serve God.)

O LOVING LORD, here I am before you once again.

Even if sometimes I resist, I know my need.

Something deep inside me tells me, go to the Lord.

Go now. Seek his presence.

Let out all your built up frustration and worry.

Do not hold it in. Do not let it haunt you.

So I give it all up to you, O Lord, here and now.

Let it be burned in your all consuming fire.

You called me out from the desert. Your Spirit calls.

You call out to all your sons and daughters. You tell us, get ready. Be prepared.

For these are not simple times. Storm clouds gather.

The spirit of division and resentment continues to rage.

Desperation and loneliness keep many imprisoned.

But no matter the resistance, no matter how hard it gets, it is a time for prophecy.

It is time to go forth with confidence into the howling wind.

It is a time for hearts to grow.

There is one thing I know for sure — an ancient message written upon my heart.

You are the Lord, my God. You will never, ever turn me away.

Even in my weakest moments, I can go to you.

I can be forgiven. I can be healthy and free.

No stain and no shame can resist your loving mercy.

You set me upon my feet again.

I can walk in confidence with the Lord, my God.

And as your Spirit dwells within me, I will not be afraid.

So make me solid, O Lord, make me strong.

Let me remain focused on my everyday tasks.

Let me not be distracted, but rather ready to serve.

May I put aside my selfish desires. May obedience be my guide.

And when I feel weary, may I seek you again and again.

May I receive your Word and your Body to nourish me.

You are my energy. You are my will. You are my faith.

I can make wise choices. I can be generous.

I can remain faithful. I can serve my family, friends, and neighbors.

I can make a difference, no matter how small, to make this world a kinder, gentler place.

And I can be a prophet among the nations. I can cry out and say,

“Jesus Christ is the Lord. He has died, he has risen, and he will come again.”

You are the giver of everlasting life. May I take up my cross and give my life as well.

May your hand be upon this servant of yours, O Lord. May my service be pleasing to your eyes.

And may I join with your Body in obedience to you —

loving myself, loving my neighbor, and loving my Lord, my God.

In Jesus name, Amen.

. . . . . . .

And I was told, “You must again prophesy about many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.”
