Essence of an old oak

i’m just a small bean.

i can’t do anything.

it’s all too much for me.

i am small.

just a baby child.

i cry. i need nourishment.

totally depend on You.

truly at Your mercy.

i am small.

i fit easily in Your hand.

rest.

the bean is a seed.

is there something inside?

possibility.

You plant me in good ground.

gently place me there.

water. wait.

after a time, a sprout, shoot, sapling.

TREE.

all this from a tiny little bean.

how marvelous You made me.

still. even as an old oak, i know.

i’m really just a small bean.

i can’t do it without You.

it’s all too much for me alone.

helpless, hopeless without You.

fragile little bean.

i depend on You. trust You.

merciful You.

all the Creator’s love.

all for me.

this old oak.

born from a tiny, tiny, little bean.
