Where is Jesus? It’s written here.

HAVE YOU EVER heard anyone say, “If Jesus came down to earth today, how would we know it?”

Or they might say, “If Jesus appeared today, nobody would pay any attention to him since he would be someone poor and humble.”

Jesus said, “At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it…. So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.” (Matthew 24:23-26)

But guess what? Jesus himself told us where he is right here and now.

Yes, the Lord ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Still, Jesus is here now on earth too.

He said it like this: Where I am, my servant also will be. (John 12:26)

So there he is… in his servant.

And how do I become his servant? How does this happen?

I must die unto myself.

Again, the Lord said, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” (John 12:24).

So once and for all, let go of anything holding you back from living free in the grace of God.

Stuff it all into the wounded side of the Body of Christ.

Crucify it. Give it all up to him.

Face down the hard problems in your life as the hand of God is upon you.

Instead of avoiding humiliation at all costs, embrace it and identify with Jesus.

Instead of seeking perfection, ask for patience.

And receive the peace that pours out from the wounds of the Risen Lord.

Let him make your heart a wholesome, fertile place where the good seed falls and sends forth deep, strong roots.

He trades your shame and miseries for eternal life.

And then, when the Spirit of God has done his good work, go and be a loyal servant of Jesus Christ.

Instead of focusing on making your life easier, find good ways to make life easier for others.

Give more than ever, even if it hurts.

Forgive those that hurt you, even if it’s yourself.

Be responsible, but don’t let responsibility choke your enthusiasm.

Don’t ever let the love of the Lord and your love towards him go dark.

Instead, let it shine brilliantly. Be not afraid to call out,

“Jesus, I love you!”

Find ways to be poor and humble.

Then the searching soul will see you from far away and say,

“There he is! It’s Jesus Christ the Messiah. He is alive in his servant.”

Break down my pride and arrogance, O merciful Lord.

Mold me to your sacred will.

Help me diminish my ego and let the Spirit of Christ grow in me.

I cannot do it on my own.

I am proud, selfish, and afraid.

So help me, O Lord.

To trust.

To believe.

And to love more.

Never perfect, but patient.

Never completely finished, but at peace.

. . . . . . .

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”

Matthew 16:24
