This fixes everything

Not fully understanding where the hurt comes from sometimes, I struggle inside. I misplace blame or get sad for no reason.

Won’t you lead me O Lord?

The world rages, yet you tell me to be humble and gentle and to have no fear.

How can I get there? How do I calm the storm? How do I heal the hurt?

Will you show me O Lord?

The word of Christ rings so true — the word of man so empty sometimes.

From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

An open invitation to a heavenly banquet from the Son of God. The gates of paradise burst wide open.

But nobody wants to repent. My flesh hates it. Instead, I want to place blame and condemn. I’m always thinking, you first. My sin is mine, it’s part of my history. We will all face judgment one day. And on that day, we will all be equal at long last.

Nobody wants to change their mind. How about just the parts that get me stuck — the parts that make me hate someone or hurt myself?

If all of us, all at once, fell on our knees to repent, we would see…

     Families healed.

     Leaders serve faithfully.

     Empty prisons.

     Hunger gone.

     Guns on the ground, abandoned.

     Pretensions crumble down.

     True humility, true gentleness.

     A world without fear.

We would see…

The Kingdom of God at hand.

The presence of Jesus on every face. The image and likeness of God.

When I repent, I take off those silly masks I wear that cover his image and likeness.

Only my faith remains. And that’s my strong place. My secure place.

If all the world fell down at once and repented before God Almighty, we would see… peace on earth.

I’m not naïve, I know it won’t happen, but I pray it happens for me and many others.

The Body of Christ soaring free.

Don’t be mistaken. Repentance is not helplessness. For those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death, there is a risen light.

And you will see…

The Spirit has room to work.

True strength, true virtue, true courage.

Christ resurrected for you and in you.

Grace roams free in your heart.

     God’s paradise welcomes you home.

“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
