Worried? Be not afraid.

I see humanity pouring out onto the plains and filling deep valleys,

pouring out onto the streets, in forests and jungles and over deserted places.

I see chaos & whirling confusion in the hearts and minds of many.

I see them flee in terror or lash out in rage, ripping themselves apart in the air and in the city square.

And some sleep through it all, anesthetized, unaware.

Too many huddled in a corner, afraid, alone, confined and bound.

I hear the earth groan as it erupts in flames under the weight of it all.

So many wanting change, but not wanting to change.

So many ready to fight and kill, even die for what they believe in.

What about living for what you believe in?

Where has the Word become flesh?

The Good News — who delivers this now?

How can I ignore the flames and the sting of smoke in my eyes?

Yet still, O Lord, you have told me. My soul knows and remembers. You told me long ago. Be not afraid. And on your word, I stand.

Over centuries, millions upon millions of lives crushed under the boot of ideology, religious manipulation, power lust, and control.

In God’s name, I will have none of this. In Christ Jesus, I stand against it.

I cannot deny my great concern for today, for the future. Yet I will not look away.

I will look anyone in the eye and say it will all be alright, if you trust, if you believe.

So many wanting change, but not asking for forgiveness, not wanting to forgive.

So many ready to fight and kill, even die for what they believe in.

What about giving of yourself for what you believe in?

Have you let the Word become flesh?

The Good News — who embraces this now?

The Son of God walked among us. His blood soaked the earth. All your sins are forgiven. The Lord is risen and lives in the Spirit. You are a beloved child of God. Forgive others. Love one another. Be kind to the hungry, the sick, the prisoner and the foreigner. All hope is found here. This is the essence of Christ who will return again in glory.

Let us proclaim the Good News to the hearts of humankind. Enter their hearts on your knees for it is sacred ground. Plant the seed of good fruit there. Be gentle. Be kind.

The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Rejoice and be glad.

It will all be alright, if you trust, if you believe.
