Who knows the truth about the Covid-19 health crisis?

One of our favorite pastimes these days is debating about the current health crisis. Is it real? Is it a hoax? Is Bill Gates trying to take over the world? Is it biological warfare? Are they trying to control us with the lockdowns?

Maybe even more common is the debate over whether the quarantines do more damage than the virus.

I have a secret to tell you.

It really doesn’t matter much.

Let’s say you had inside information, or even better, a crystal ball that told you without a doubt the answers to these questions. What would you do then? Probably the same thing you are doing now. So why worry so much?

I’m not saying it isn’t important. I’m not saying people aren’t suffering. It is, and many are. But I’m not sure my actions would change much in the face of inside knowledge. I’m still doing my part to survive and help as best I can.

If I knew for sure it was all a hoax, would I run out into the street with my hair on fire screaming the truth? I guess so—if I was called to do this.

At the end of the day, you gather info, pray over it, and act, right? You did pray over it, didn’t you? 🙂

Called to action

So if you decide you are called to do something, then do it. But don’t waste valuable time and energy getting absorbed in the online circus that revolves around all this.

There will always exist powerful, wealthy individuals that manipulate the masses for perverse gain. Humans commit unspeakable acts against their fellow humans every day.

If you are indignant about things now, do you remember last year? How many horrible things occurred in 2019 that we never spoke up about?

If you take up a crusade, make sure it’s one you are truly called to. If not, focus on what you can be sure of and make a difference there.

As followers of Jesus, we are not interested in a New World Order. Nor are we interested in the Old World Order.

When Pontius Pilate questioned Jesus about being a king, Jesus answered, “My kingship is not of this world; if my kingship were of this world, my servants would fight…” (John 18:36a)

Revolutionary tactics

There are many ways to fight against oppression and evil. Taking up arms typically ends with many innocent people getting killed on all sides. Taking to the streets might be called for in some cases.

But what if I focus on helping and healing? What if I seek to share the Good News that God is love, and Jesus gives us abundant life, in this world and the next?

They way of Jesus Christ is unique. Revolutionary. Heavenly. Not of this world.

Remember, Jesus did know the whole truth. And even he couldn’t convince everyone of the Greatest Truth Of All Time. Looking down their noses, they said, “Isn’t he the son of the carpenter?” Like, who in the world does he think he is? The Messiah or something?

Well, yes. Jesus held that absolute truth. But many choose not to believe, even despite his miracles.

So how did he share the truth?

Yes, he proclaimed it. Yes, he lived it. And yes, he died for it.

As this was his calling. What’s yours?

Find it and live it. Seek and trust God.

Move forward with courage and confidence in your calling, despite this chaotic and hurting world.

Leave the noise behind.

Let your soul sing of the greatness of the Lord.

And may your spirit rejoice in God, your Savior.

Amen.
