The all nighter

I’VE BEEN there before. Deep in prayer. But not too often.

Not 30 minutes, not an hour…. but hours. Maybe 2 or 3 hours at a time. Or even all night.

Jesus engaged in this kind of prayer many times.

In these days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. (Luke 6:12)

“All night” it says. In Getsamane Jesus prayed for hours before his arrest. And the disciples fell asleep.

Have you ever tried this? Pray all night. What could happen? What might God show you?

Why did Jesus do it?

He went seeking guidance and strength.

But most of all — if you ask me — it’s because he loved his Father so very much.

Spending an all-nighter in the presence of God the Father…

Great joy. Plenitude. Even combat sometimes.

Jesus could not wait to be with his Father.

And me?

I want to go there. Spirit show me how. I want to be in GOD’S presence.

Just HIM, me and HIS WORD.

When I need guidance, yes.

But even more…

oh Spirit of God…

LET IT BE FOR LOVE.
