You okay with this?

LET’S FACE IT. Everything is going to be fine. No, even better, everything’s going to be heavenly. That’s right. Despite the wars, natural disasters, massacres and all the other terrible news we hear every day, everything is going to be awesome.

But it won’t happen without a fight.

An army of 20,000 against you

My optimism flies in the face of reality. Look at the United States. As the country wallows in two decades of discontent, the nation’s division keeps growing. The people are more fragmented than ever. In a perpetual state of war, we see drugs and bullets kill tens of thousands every year. There’s no limit when it comes to violence, perversion and corruption. The greatest human empire ever is desperate since it knows the internals are broken.

In the Bible book of Matthew, chapter 24 it says:

“For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”

Doesn’t this describe our situation today?

We all know things are headed south, yet we act as if there’s nothing to worry about. Why do we behave this way? Are we just hiding our head in the sand hoping it will all go away?

Really faulty logic

For example, whether you believe in global warming or not, the human element alone adds great danger. This was proven by the nuclear accidents caused by the Japanese tsunami/earthquake in 2011. In April 2013, a large quake struck near a nuclear plant in Iran. In September 2017, another quake struck near the now shuttered Fukushima plant. In the US, at least six nuclear power plants are within five miles of fault lines. Even worse, unpredictable humans have their fingers on buttons that could quickly unleash hell on earth.

Am I predicting an imminent collapse? Maybe it’s already upon us. As the scriptures predicted, we go about our daily business as if there was no hurry and no worry. If the world were to end tomorrow, how would your behavior change today? Why does the idea of an Armageddon-like scenario terrify and fascinate us at the same time?

One reason is this: we’re all going to die. As will all our children, and their children as well — if humanity lasts that long. We’re all mortal, and the human race is quickly showing its advanced age.

Why so sad?

Ironically, mental health issues are now the developed world’s number one health problem. Once things like starvation, water contamination and diarrheal illnesses are taken care of – what hurts us the most? Our own psyche. Think about that. Once its basic health issues get settled, a society becomes depressed. Shouldn’t we be happy, healthy and prosperous instead?

Look around you. Look into your heart. What do you sense from the world? What do you see, hear and feel? As men of this 3rd millennium – what should we do about it? Sometimes I feel an overwhelming urgency, and only God protects me from suffocation. The enemy tempts me to close my heart, but with God’s hand upon me, I can push forward.

Who’s calling the shots?

If I’m going to take a real assessment, I must look inward as well. If we hope to be a generation of men that will make a difference in this Dark Age, we must take stock of ourselves. Are we prepared for such a challenge? The first question I should ask is, “Who is my master?”

I used to think I was my own master, but a master teaches and instructs. In order to learn I must listen and watch. Where, over the last 10 or 20 years, have you spent your time listening and watching? Where did you spend your infancy and childhood learning?

For most readers, we grew up learning a profession or a trade, but the times call for much more. The education that we received is the teaching of a world that decays in front of our eyes. Even Christian/Catholic school students risk leaning on an institution for nourishment. We need a new education. We must unlearn the old and be taught anew.

Time check

How many hours a week do you spend watching TV? Watching sports programs? On the internet? How much of your life has been dedicated to pornography? Your master teaches you. How do you fill the data banks of your mind? In my past, I foolishly flushed thousands of hours down the drain. Perhaps that’s how it was meant to be, but now things are different.

On the other hand, how much time do you spend seeking God’s presence and his word? I intentionally waited until now before I even mentioned seeking God. Why? To show you how comfortable you are in considering a worldly view. Even as our world rots, these facts comfort us in a strange way. Why? Because it’s something we can get our heads around. We can at least understand the decline of humankind.

Yet when it comes to heavenly intervention, we hesitate.

This happens when the world is your master. It keeps us blind and obedient. The Book of Revelation speaks about this. All of creation is crashing down upon people, yet they still won’t bow down and worship God. In the end, they get crushed even though they know they’re headed towards their doom.

Again, I ask: how much time do you spend in prayer and reading scripture? If your answer is not much, then begin making changes. This is not self-help advice. It’s a cry for action. The biggest battle facing humanity is taking place now. If you’re not properly prepared, it will devastate you. There’s no time to waste.

Really?

If your answer to all this is “They will take care of things. It’ll be alright,” Who are they? Those that have filled our world with war, corruption and perversion? Those that have become so insanely powerful and wealthy (corporations = new kings) while the people they govern manipulate suffer in ignorance? The 8 richest men on earth have as much wealth as half the world population. Democracy has become all about staging elections. Those that truly rule never lose. Power only exists where power is abused. Look at the leaders of this day and age. Do we really believe that today’s rulers would act ethically if it meant losing control of government? Their ends always justify their means.

Humankind has never been smarter. Entire cities float on the water, and you communicate with millions from the palm of your hand. Even with all our power to mold our surroundings, we still can’t soothe the deep ache in our souls.

Doctor, heal thyself

How about health care? Might we not find truth and healing there? For 10 years I practiced medicine, and the sad fact is that medical error is a leading cause of death in the western world. Approximately 200,000 people die every year from medical error in the United States alone. That’s 550 people every day. Our own science kills us. There are many reasons to explain this, but the economic model usually works best. There’s a lot more money to be made in treating – even killing – but not healing.

Pharmaceutical companies are among the richest and most powerful entities that have ever existed. Still, they put little money and research into developing new antibiotics and antivirals. In 2016, the first new antibiotic in 30 years was discovered. There’s simply not enough money to be made in antibiotic sales. The government won’t fund much research either. Yet we have truckloads of money to spend on jets, tanks, automatic weapons, bombs, porn, drugs and human slaves because these are good business. We would rather get wealthier than healthier.

Marcus J. Zervos, MD, head of the Division of Infectious Diseases for the Henry Ford Health Systems, says physicians and patients are in desperate need for new antibiotic compounds.

“It’s been very disappointing,” Dr. Zervos said. “We’re seeing an increasing number of patients with bacteria resistant to most or all antibiotics, as are all hospitals. For some patients, these infections are untreatable. It’s very alarming, and very difficult.”

Read that again… “resistant to most or all antibiotics… untreatable”. That means a bug you can’t kill. Terrorists don’t even need to unleash bio-weapons. Tuberculosis and gonorrhea have no trouble spreading themselves.

Man up

Ask yourself: will things will take a turn for the better? We’ve been in charge for thousands of years, and we’ve brought ourselves to the brink of destruction. Any other assessment of the situation is foolish at best and avoiding responsibility at worst.

The Gospel is a message for all ages. The current global scenario only makes it more urgent. As men of this millennium, we must look to our true Master. Our times demand this response. Your future and your family’s future depend on it. The future of humankind depends on it.

Despite the terrifying facts, if we seek and obey God, I am certain that my optimism will prove to be true. Everything is going to be very great indeed.
